An Axis of Light: Gledhill Park Modern – Linear House

On a classic narrow lot in the Gledhill Park neighbourhood, Linear House is an exercise in geometric precision and the manipulation of light. The design is organized around a powerful central axis that runs the entire length of the home, creating an uninterrupted sightline from the front sitting room to the private garden sanctuary in the back. This strong linearity is the home’s defining feature, informing every design choice.

The horizontal flow is punctuated by dramatic vertical elements—a double-height atrium, soaring window compositions, and an open-riser staircase—that draw daylight deep into the core of the building. The material palette is a restrained conversation between textures: the dark, graphic brick of the facade gives way to bright, minimalist interiors with warm wood floors and expansive glass. Every room is a vignette, every window a carefully composed frame, proving that even within urban constraints, a home can feel boundless, open, and full of light.
